Known from

Elegant and efficient

concap meets all the requirements of a modern slab system

  1. concap
  2. Customised recesses for cable routing
  3. Cable routing for technical building equipment
  4. Granular infill, recycled material
  5. Impact sound insulation, height as required
  6. Screed
  7. Floor covering
The standard element in the concap slab structure is only 6 cm thick at its thinnest point and meets all technical requirements of a modern office or residential building in terms of load-bearing capacity, sound insulation and fire protection.

concap has a smooth, concrete-grey underside that gives it a highly unique appearance and lends the room a special atmosphere. On request, we can individually produce concap in various concrete colours as well as acidification and sandblasting of the vaulted soffits.

Maximum flexibility

concap is currently available for a structural grid manufactured in panels up to 2.7 m in width as well as in various levels of sound insulation and loadbearing capacity. Individual dimensions are available on request.

Load-bearing capacity

concap enables a load capacity for live loads of up to 3 kN/m², a flexible placement of partition walls in the floor plan and an additional permanent load of up to 2.5 kN/m² (in addition to the infill).

Sound insulation

Increased sound insulation in accordance with DIN 4109-5 using standard floor coverings.

Fire protection

Up to 90 minutes of fire protection.

Integration of technical building equipment without the need for a raised floor

Feeding cables and pipes through the longitudinal beams and customised cross bulkheads eliminates the need for a raised floor and allows for a reduced total structural depth of up to 32 cm (slab + sound insulation + screed).

Heat and/or air-conditioning in the slab

Capillary tubes integrated into the concrete make thermally active building systems possible.

Space-saving and intelligent

concap enables a compact slab structure

Two different examples of a concap slab structure
  1. concap - optimized concrete bowl
  2. Cable routing for technical building equipment
  3. Granular infill, recycled material
  4. Impact sound insulation, height as required
  5. Screed
  6. Floor covering
  7. Customised recesses for cable routing
The infill is openly accessible under the floor covering and provides space for the easy integration of all essential cables and pipes for plumbing, electrical and technology services. This eliminates the need for raised floors, even in the case of high-tech buildings that use a great deal of equipment. The pipes and cables can either be fed through recesses between the precast elements or laid in an additional granular infill layer above them.

concap can be used for temperature control

  1. concap
  2. Cable routing for heating and cooling
  3. Integrated capillary tubes
Thermal concrete core activation is achieved by using capillary tubes already installed in the factory. As a slab heating system with water heated at around 28 °C, concap uses radiant heat to efficiently control the temperature and create a comfortable room environment. concap can also function as a cooling system. With water temperatures of approx. 17 °C, the slab cooling is regulated by a control system above the dew point.

Tested and simple

concap reduces the amount of planning required

Element type A,
two vaults
Element type B,
one vault
concap has a structural design type approved by the German Institute for Engineering Technology (DIBt). A sound insulation statement is also available for all types. concap meets all applicable German building standards and can be easily adapted to other EU standards. We also systematically catalogue variants in structural application, which helps to facilitate the ongoing process of dimensioning and detailing. Our highly specialised serial production guarantees a consistently high quality. As a precast concrete element, concap enables a simple installation process to facilitate a rapid construction sequence.

concap can be entirely customised to meet individual project requirements on request.

Simple connection details for easy planning

concap can be supported on all common structural frame systems. CAD files of the elements and connection details are available to facilitate the design process.

Sustainable and recyclable

concap reduces emissions and saves resources

Global warming potential (GWP) for slabs with a span of 8.1 m (in % of reference design)

With an equivalent concrete thickness of 10–15 cm, concap produces only roughly half of the CO2 emissions of conventional systems. The granular infill is made from recycled products, such as concrete or sand, and this considerably reduces the use of primary resources. In direct comparison with an 8.1 m spanning flat slab made of in-situ concrete, a concap slab system saves an average of 55 % of the global warming potential.

concap for circular construction

  1. concap
  2. Nuts (2x)
  3. Washer
  4. Threaded rod
  5. Permanent load anchor
concap is bolted to the load-bearing elements on site and the joints are filled with a low-strength mortar. The entire system functions according to the cradle-to-cradle design concept. At the end of a building’s lifecyle, concap elements are designed to be easily dismantled in a non-destructive manner to be reused and to comply with circular construction principles.

FAQ

01
What should I do if I can’t find the dimensions I am looking for?

concap already comes in many different module sizes and widths. If the size you’re looking for is not yet covered in our existing selection, please contact us. We would be happy to work with you to create a solution, even if it lies outside our standard dimensions.

02
What colour is concap and what does the concrete structure actually look like?

The slab soffit of concap is concrete-grey and smooth, as the elements are manufactured using the positive production process. By adding pigments and/or retarders, concap can also be cast in other colours and/or surfaces. We also offer our precast elements with acid-etched and/or sandblasted surfaces. Simply choose the colour that suits your individual building project.

03
What building types is concap suitable for?

concap is suitable for office, residential, industrial and commercial building projects. Please contact us for custom building projects.

04
How much does concap cost and how can I request an estimate for my building project?

How much concap costs depends on the type you choose. We would be delighted to advise you on an individual building project and provide you with an estimate. We ask that you contact our sales department directly.

05
Where can I take a closer look at concap?

You can experience concap up close in a virtual room on our website as well as at the thomas betonbauteile showroom in the town of Hennigsdorf, close to Berlin. There you will find a fullscale mock-up of an 8.1 m slab with modules of type A and B. We would be happy to organise an individual viewing and personal consultation. Please contact our showroom secretary to make an appointment.

Connecting commonalities

The idea for concap originated with Professor Mike Schlaich, a Berlin-based engineer and partner at the renowned engineering office of schlaich bergermann partner. He had been researching sustainable concrete construction for many years. Eventually, he found the perfect industrial collaborators in the team of Eckhardt Thomas at thomas betonbauteile, one of the largest manufacturers of precast concrete elements in Germany. These two experts came together and gave the historically striking vaulted slab a modern makeover, revitalising it as an intelligent, resource-saving precast concrete component – concap was born.

The collaboration that produced concap was grounded in the common values of reliability, transparency and trust. After 18 months of intensive joint development work, the two groups of experts grew into one interdisciplinary team driven by a pioneering spirit and a solution-oriented approach. This collaborative team is now very proud to introduce you to concap.
